Palin Will Not Attend Tomorrow's Iowa Straw Poll

Today Governor Sarah Palin made an appearance at the Iowa State Fair attracting a slew of media.

Palin will skip out on tomorrow's Straw Poll, saying she will be in Iowa just for one day, “I don’t want to step on anybody’s toes so I won’t be in the state tomorrow. We’ll already be on the bus, heading out of here."

Palin laughed and didn't respond when asked if supporters should write in her name at the contest at Iowa State University. She also declined to say who her supporters should cast ballots for in her place, and said it is was still too early for her to decide who to support if she didn't throw her hat into the ring.

Of course the big question was asked about whether or not she would make a run for the White House, and although she didn't give a solid answer, Palin emphasized it would be "very grassroots" and pledged to run a different kind of campaign:

"Each campaign that I've ever run in these 20 years of elected office has been kind of unconventional, right, Todd? I've always been outspent 2:1, 5:1, 10:1. I never won any polls heading into election night but usually won the election."

Governor Palin is visiting the Iowa State Fair today as speculation about a possible presidential bid continues to mount.

Palin came, in black Suburbans, to the cattle barn as Rick Santorum was speaking on the fair soap box and Tim Pawlenty was grilling pork on a stick. She was immediately surrounded by a crowd of reporters and fairgoers.

Governor Palin and her family inspected cattle at the fair while journalists crowded barn walkways as Palin toured fair exhibits.

"One Nation" Bus Tour Rolls On

Today, Governor Palin's political action committee (SarahPAC) posted the following statement:

"We are very happy to jump back on the bus for another leg of our "One Nation Tour"! We accept with gratefulness an invitation to meet folks at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines this week. The heartland is perfect territory for more of the One Nation Tour as we put forth efforts to revitalize the fundamental restoration of America by highlighting our nation’s heart, history, and founding principles."

In a newsletter sent out by SarahPAC more information continued:

"In a grossly weakened economy - especially when recovery is thwarted by today's Obamanomics - prudent Americans make sensible decisions to live within their means. This includes seeking affordable participation in more community events, local patriotic parades, and traditional all-American venues like state fairs. State fairs hold a special place in our nation's history and heritage, so my family is honored to highlight one of them on one stop along the One Nation Tour route - America's historic Iowa State Fair! (I'm also excited to try some of that famous fried butter-on-a-stick, fried cheesecake-on-a-stick, fried twinkies, etc. I'll enjoy them in honor of those who'd rather make us just "eat our peas"!) 

Unlike next week's Obama Bus Tour, taxpayers aren't funding our tour, which is why we so appreciate your support in allowing us to be out there on the open road to visit with you to highlight small towns, big-hearted people, and the important role they play in our most exceptional nation."

Governor Palin: Leading the Fight on Debt with the Record to Prove It

Tonight Governor Palin retweeted Conservatives 4 Palin very own Whitney Pitcher’s tweet regarding Palin’s conservative governing in the state of Alaska.

The original post by Pennsylvania 4 Palin expands on this topic by comparing and contrasting the records of Governor Palin, Governor Rick Perry of Texas, Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, Governor Mitt Romney of New Hampshire, and Governor Jon Huntsman of Utah—in dealing with state debt and liabilities.

Compared to all other candidates and potential candidates, Governor Palin increased the debt at a much slower rate and reduced total liabilities at a much higher rate than any of her fellow governors.

What I find most interesting about Governor Palin retweeting this tweet is not only the fact that she is showcasing her achievements as Governor but if you read the last sentence it states: “Now is the time for a President who already has “womaned up” and led on a state level and is ready to do the same on a federal level.”

And political pundits continue to assert Governor Palin’s disinterest in the 2012 election? How funny.

UPDATE: Texans Head to Iowa in Support of Governor Palin

Texas Organize4Palin volunteers have arranged a charter bus trip to attend Tea Party of America’s “Restoring America” rally in Waukee, Iowa, on Saturday September 3rd.

Governor Sarah Palin will be the keynote speaker at this  historic event.

The US Coachways charter bus will depart from Dallas, Texas at approximately 8pm on Thursday, September 1st and return late evening on Sunday, September 4th.

The bus will be adorned with the following signage stating, “Texas is Palin Country.”

Seats are $175 per person which includes round trip bus travel and transfers to and from the event site. Lodging is not included but an applicable group discount is offered.

If you are in the Dallas/ Fort Worth Metroplex or can carpool/ fly into the area and are looking for a fun and economical way to attend this event, click here to contact a coordinator. Small group pickups in Oklahoma City or Kansas City are also offered.

Governor Palin on Hannity: "2012 Can't Come Soon Enough"

Tonight Governor Sarah Palin was on the Fox News channel with Sean Hannity discussing the debt debate, the road to 2012, and the fire between Democrats, Republicans and the Tea Party.

"I'm gonna stick up for people who at this point are being called terrorists and being accused of waging jihad against our own country... enough is enough and I'm not going to sit here and take it anymore... if we were terrorists, he’d (Obama) would want to pal around with us."

She also chastised Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney for not voicing his position on the debt-ceiling debate sooner, "Bless his heart, I have respect for Mitt Romney, but I do not have respect for what he has done through this debt increase debate, he did this [waving her pointer finger around as if to 'test the winds'], he waited until it was a done deal that we would increase the debt ceiling and more money would be spent, more money would be borrowed and spent on bigger government, and then he came out and made a statement that he didn't like the deal after all. You can't defer an issue and assume that the problem is then going to be avoided." She continued, "You're inviting a crisis, don't just wait and sit back."

Palin maintained that she's an optimist heading into this next election cycle and as for President Barack Obama, Palin offered, "He is so off base in this that I tell you, 2012 cannot come soon enough."

Governor Palin on Greta: Tea Party Getting Used to Being Called Names

Tonight Governor Palin spoke with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren about the 'great debt debate' and Joe Biden’s comments regarding the Tea Party.

Palin called Vice President Joe Biden's remarks on the tea party "quite vile." Palin went on to say, "independent patriots who happen to be believers in tea party principles are getting kind of used to being called names."

She continued, "Perhaps some of these talking heads and liberal politicians, perhaps they thought [tea party congressmen] were going to be just typical politicians who get into office and they change their stripes… It should not come as any surprise when they're sticking to their principles," she said.

However, she voiced discontentment with the concessions made to the president, and blasted the Republican Congressional leadership: "What happened to the pledge that our Congress has made to America, saying they would post bills online three days before they voted on them?" she said. "They've already broken that pledge, and doggone it, that's what makes us disappointed in politicians in Washington, D.C."

Governor Palin: For Such A Time As This

Today Governor Palin re-posted a Facebook note reminding newly elected congressional freshmen why they were elected by voters during the 2010 midterm elections:

"Out here in proverbial politico flyover country, we little folk are watching the debt ceiling debate with great interest and concern. Today I re-read the open letter I wrote to Republican Freshman Members of Congress in November 2010, just days after they were ushered into office in an historic landslide victory due in large part to the activism of commonsense patriots who are considered part of the Tea Party movement. I respectfully ask these GOP Freshman to re-read this letter and remember us “little people” who believed in them, donated to their campaigns, spent hours tirelessly volunteering for them, and trusted them with our votes. This new wave of public servants may recall that they were sent to D.C. for such a time as this.

The original letter is pasted below, with added emphasis to certain passages that I feel are especially relevant to the current discussion.

Preview of the 'Restoring America Event'

Tea Party America, the organization managing the “Restoring America Event” on September 3rd at which the Governor will be delivering a keynote address, posted a press release online.

The press release also included a statement from Governor Palin herself:

“I’m very excited to join grassroots Iowans at the ‘Restoring America’ event over Labor Day Weekend,” Governor Palin said. “Gatherings like this of independent liberty-loving Americans from every walk of life exemplify our commitment to come together to seek solutions to the problems confronting our nation. As I’ve said many times, including at Pella during my last visit to Iowa: We don’t need a ‘fundamental transformation’ of America. We need a restoration of all that is good and strong and free. The 2012 election will be a great debate between those two conflicting visions for our country.”

The Tea Party of America’s “Restoring America” event will be held at Hawkeye Antique Acres in Waukee, Iowa from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. Parking for the event is $3.00, entrance fee is free.
