Oh What Tangled Web's We Weave

Some people will believe anything that is said about Sarah Palin.

Us Weekly reported that Governor Palin had some harsh things to say about Christina Aguilera who fumbled (pun intended) the singing of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl last weekend.

Us reported that Palin said Aguilera was "—a demanding beauty queen who's clearly in over her head.. Unemployment is at nine percent, yet we have to suffer through a performance by a foreigner with a poor grasp of the English language. If I were president, I'd deport Ms. Aguilera back to wherever it is she's from and give Amy Smart a call."

The problem is Sarah Palin never made such a comment. Us Weekly was quoting a fake story in a satirical website called “Super Tuesday News”.

Turns out Us Weekly wasn’t the only media outlet to fall for the false statement. Time Magazine fell for the same cock-and-bull story!

There is a happy ending to this madness; (not only will Sarah Palin run and win in 2012), but in defense, Palin sent an e-mail to Time Magazine congressional correspondent, Jay Newton:
“Subject: Great job, MSM!

Jay – pls tell your bosses there at Time Magazine thank you for the invitations to attend the upcoming functions. I’ll sure put a lot of thought into those invitations.
Then, have your editors retract Time’s most recent ridiculous lies about me supposedly giving Sean Hannity a radio interview wherein I supposedly talked about Christina Aguilera (that I slammed her for her Nat’l Anthem mistake, and called for her deportation, etc). You guys were fooled into running a fake story that even US Weekly pulled and apologized for their blunder. Total lies – and you guys (once again) even put quotation marks around things I have never uttered. Then, Time needs to run an apology to Christina along with the retraction. (Add Hannity in your apology, too…those good folks don’t deserve to be in a caustic, untrue story about me.) Thanks much – keep up the great work, Time Magazine.”

  4. The old media is dying of self inflicted wounds. The new media is rising in the form of Sarah Palin.
